Muslim beauty queen Shanna Bukhari has had her life threatened after stating her intention to try out for the Miss Universe pageant.
Shanna Bukhari was born in the UK and her parents were born in Pakistan. She claims to have received death threats from both fundamental Muslims who dislike the idea of a Muslim woman participating in a beauty contest in which she would have to wear a bikini, and from Islamaphobic racists who dislike the idea of a Pakistani Muslim woman representing the UK in the Miss Universe Pageant.
Shanna Bukhari grew up in the UK and won the "Miss Asiana" pageant. She claims to not represent Islam but all women when she competes in beauty contests and tries to remain modest by not wearing a revealing bikini but a one piece bathing suit with a sarong instead.
